BUT IM NOT SLEEPY!!!!!!!

I had to be in bed by 9:00 till i was like 13. there i said it. My mom was an old school strict christian mom, she didnt play that even for a second.that shit used to used to piss me off cause i never got to watch New York Undercover .i didnt get into it until the reruns came on USA years later and i got pissed the fuck off all over again.the time that really tore my ass apart was when Oprah had a MAJOR interview with Michael Jackson at 9:00 and everyone watched it but me.I never told my homies i was going to bed at 9 of course.whenever they asked me if i saw melrose place or something i always said i was on the phone or something.what really used to piss me off was we'd go to church on sundays and get home at 11pm.if i can stay up late for that why cant i watch Hermans Head?

looking back, all the things dukes did was to make sure i came up right.all my cousins who could do what they wanted ended up going to jail, getting popped, having babies real young and all that.one of my cousins has a price on his head and can never go back to his old hood.sometimes me and my girl be talking about how she was walking around at 14 with her belly hanging out wondering how she was gonna feed herself and a baby and i realize the biggest worry i had was if i could beat Super Mario by 9:00.so i guess im saying thanks mom...WITH YO CHEAP ASS!!!! (i kid i kid)

my mom was the same way. we had to be in when the street lights came on. we couldnt go the movies with everybody else cuz no adults were going, we couldnt go trick or treating or nothin. Now I'm the same way with my son Im know he gonna be mad as hell when he get older and realize it. Shit I dont even let him go outside and play now unless im out there too.

ha ha, my son is gonna be 9 ys old soon and his bedtime is 9pm.
in the summer he get to stay up til 9:30pm.
and if his ass act up in the store while i'm shopping, it could be 2pm in the afternoon, he has to go to sleep when we get home.
he always say "but i'm not even sleepy, maybe i just watch tv or read til i fall asleep"
and that would be a big ol NOPE cuz his lil crazy tail shoulda thought of not being sleepy when he was trying to break dance and pop lock, and crip walk all in front of the dressing room mirrors
in the store.

and yes that bedtime will be enforced until he get some bass in his voice when he tells me it ain't fair. tee hee

ms biggie shorty

I remember I couldn't talk on the phone after 9. I hated that.

Now that I'm thinking back on it... I didn't really have a "bed time" I just had to be inside before the street lights came on... that was up until I was 10. It was the south ya'll, so things were a little different. Then when we moved to Seattle, I couldn't go outside AT ALL. My mom swore a white person was gonna snatch me. This rule lasted till I moved out her house. damn.

9pm don't sound so bad dude.

co-sign @ cherish, i was raised the same way and i'll be treating my son the same. i'm paranoid, especially with the way this world is, and hell, in GOOD reason!

nodays, once again, I can relate. While i don't recall the actual time that was enforced by mom's I do remember hearing "is the light on???...or "is the tv on???"..."you need to go to bed!"

sleep overs? forget about it. unless my company was comin' over my house.
field trips? forget about it. unless mom could get the time off work to come too.
playin' outside in the front yard while school was out for the summer? ain't gonna happen - unless i was in the backyard.
walk down to the candy store by myself or even home from school by myself? forget about it.

My mom didn't play. I applaud her though, because I made it to 30 unharmed, unmolested and with all my thinking faculties. So did my brother and sister. So hats off to the strict moms! They knew exactly what they were doin'.

my parents were pretty lenient about bedtimes as long as I got my homework done... I go to bed way earlier now than I did back in high school.

I co-sign with that. At the time, you wanted to cuss your mom out (in your head of course), but it was all for a good cause.

LOL at you wanting to watch NY Undercover!!!

Man Nodays.. in your day it was NY Undercover.. my days it was Arsenio Hall.. back in the day when he had all the good guests (except Paula Abdul.. lol) It's all for a good reason though.. my daughter is 14 and I'll be damned if she don't have her ass in the bed by 9:30.. lights out.. tv off.. and don't make me come back in this room again or it's gonna be TROUBLE.. TROUBLE.... LOL!!!

Thanks once again for the memories!!
